The Grand Mesa stands at 10,000 ft , and as a plateau is the largest flattop mountain in the world. With pine and aspen forests, over 300 lakes and reservoirs, wild mountain overlooks where you can see all the way into Utah, there's no shortage of recreation and alpine vibes up here.
In the summer this is a great escape from the heat of the valley, and is one of the most underrated places in Colorado. Rolling hills on the top of the Mesa feel like you're in Scotland, and the wildflowers are crazy in the summer. The aspens glow golden yellow and orange in the fall around late September and early October, while the winter offers guaranteed access to snow and winter recreation. Pack up your SUP board and a picnic for your elopement on the Grand Mesa!
